Module 2
Shift Recap System™
A professional documentation system designed to help restaurant managers capture what happened during the shift, communicate clearly with leadership, follow up on guest concerns, and protect operational consistency between teams.
Purpose
The Shift Recap System™ turns daily restaurant activity into useful leadership communication. A strong recap does not only say the shift was "good" or "busy." It explains guest flow, service wins, operational challenges, team performance, recovery actions, follow-up needs, and priorities for the next shift.

- ✓Team performance notes
- ✓Safety or maintenance concerns
- ✓Follow-up items for the next leader

General Shift Recap
Operational Challenges:
Follow-Up Needed for Next Shift:
Poor Recap Example
"Shift was good. No major issues."
This recap does not help the next leader. It does not explain business flow, guest concerns, team wins, operational issues, or follow-up needs.
Strong Recap Example
"The evening was steady between 6:30 PM and 8:45 PM. Ticket times averaged 12–15 minutes. Two guest recovery opportunities were addressed: one delayed entrée and one seating concern. Both guests left satisfied after manager follow-up. Team communication improved after pre-shift reminders. Maintenance follow-up is needed for the side station drawer."
This recap gives leadership clear visibility, follow-up needs, and operational context.

KHEPERA Recovery Standard
A guest recovery recap should clearly explain the concern, ownership taken, resolution offered, guest response, and any follow-up required. The purpose is not to assign blame. The purpose is to prevent repeated failures and protect the guest relationship.

"A shift is not fully complete until the next leader understands what happened, what changed, and what still needs attention."
